At 7:40 p.m. October 30, 1951, a meeting of Alpha Phi Omega was held in a Room 11 of the Physical Education building.  The delegates’ report of the proceedings at the Planning Committee conference was heard first.  Among the business discuss there were the organizing of inspection teams to inspect the local troop buildings in regard to fire hazards, and the formation of deputation teams, in first aid, to become instructors to units in the surrounding area in cooperation with the Civil Defense Program.  Chief Warner of the Hampton Franklin Council was introduced.  He extended the cooperation of the council to Alpha Phi Omega and then suggested some service projects which might be undertaken.  One was the need for Assistant Scout Masters in the two troops in Amherst and, second, the formation of the demonstration teams made up of scouts from troops in the Council on any phase of scouting that would be of help in the program of neighboring troops.  APO would serve as a clearinghouse between scoutmasters for these teams.  Introduction of members in the club, was suggested for the benefit of chief Warner and the new members Tom O’Connell.

LaFreniere, Russell Taylor and John Basham were appointed to the Planning Committee which would hold a meeting and organize the future meetings.  Thursday night was chosen as the alternative meeting night, November 13 will be the deadline for charter members, the applications wishing and mission prior to this state will be placed on the waiting list.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
